Taste of the Chamber 2020 – An Update

Our Taste of the Chamber event that was to take place on April 2nd at Bobby Rahal Acura had to be canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and our concerns over the safety of our members and attendees. Considering how hard hit the restaurant, foodservice, and catering businesses have been during the shutdown we wanted to still do something to be able to give back to our restaurant and nonprofit members that usually benefit from this event.

The Chamber came up with the Taste of the Chamber Bonus Book that would go to individuals who had already purchased a ticket for the event prior to the shutdown. Inside they will find information on the two nonprofit beneficiaries and coupons from our sponsors and exhibiting restaurant members.

Our two nonprofit members that will receive a portion of the sales from the bonus book are Junior Leadership Program and Sam’s Spoons Foundation.

Leadership Cumberland’s Junior Leadership Program (JLP) is for high school students in their Junior year. The 6-month series features day-long sessions throughout Cumberland County. The JLP curriculum acquaints emerging leaders with community needs, opportunities, challenges, and resources while giving them the opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and team-building skills. For more information visit www.leadershipcumberland.org

Sam’s Spoons Foundation was created to help defray the out of pocket expenses incurred by families affected by chronic medical conditions from Lyme Disease and co-infections. In most cases, people are left 100% financially responsible for their long-term treatment. This organization is focused on helping those in need financially while working to raise awareness and instill the importance of prevention. Visit www.samspoons.org for more information.

This year for the first time Taste of the Chamber was to bring together both West Shore and Mechanicsburg Chamber hospitality, restaurant, and catering members with local professionals for a unique culinary celebration. We are hopeful that we will be able to gather next year to celebrate and support our restaurant members.

If you are interested in purchasing a bonus book for $25 please contact the Chamber office at (717) 761-0702 or wschamber@wschamber.org
